The Windhover

These two pieces take inspiration from the poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Windhover, a name for a kestrel. The thrill of the bird riding the wind:

“….in his riding Of the rolling level underneath him steady air” and

“As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding

Rebuffed the big wind.”

They were made for a private commission and appear side-by-side.
